Overview
One of the most crucial skills in selling digital products is effectively demonstrating their strengths. Previously, Apple relied on face-to-face training sessions to teach salespeople how to conduct product demos. However, this approach was:
❌ Time-consuming → Required in-person sessions for every new trainee.
❌ Resource-intensive → Depended on trainers, travel, and scheduling.
❌ Difficult to scale → Not feasible for a global sales network.
❌ Hard to track → No clear way to measure training effectiveness.
To address these challenges, we developed Live Demo Simulator, a digital training tool that provides salespeople with a step-by-step, interactive demo experience—allowing them to practice and refine their skills in a simulated environment.
Here’s how the early concept prototype works:
1️⃣ Engage → Salespeople start a conversation with a simulated customer.
2️⃣ Discover → They identify the customer’s interests (e.g., photo features).
3️⃣ Demo → They showcase product features in an interactive simulation.
4️⃣ Wrap Up → They conclude the conversation smoothly, reinforcing key selling points.
Early stage prototype
This guided process helps salespeople understand what to say and do during a product feature demo. With repeated practice in the simulated environment, they become familiar with the entire sales flow and gain confidence when interacting with real customers. The instant feedback makes it easy to track the salespeople’s learning progress.
Below are two more detailed modes in the Demo Simulator prototype:
🎯 Practice Mode
• Provides word-by-word, step-by-step guidance.
• Helps new trainees become comfortable with demoing.

📄 Exam Mode
• Uses voice recognition & interactive UI to evaluate trainees.
• Requires them to recall and deliver the sales pitch independently.

Impact & Current Development
✅ Digitized & Scalable → Eliminates the need for in-person training.
✅ Data-Driven Learning → Tracks user progress and identifies areas for improvement.
✅ Real-World Confidence → Salespeople gain hands-on experience before engaging with real customers.
Currently, multiple internal test versions have been released, with ongoing refinements based on user feedback.
