Live Demo Simulator

 (starting 2024)

One crucial skill when selling digital products is effectively demonstrating them and showcasing their strengths. In the past, salespeople needed to undergo face-to-face training sessions to learn how to demo Apple products. This method was time-consuming, resource-intensive, unscalable, and difficult to track for effectiveness.

When I joined Apple, our goal was to digitize the product training process, utilizing data and software to train and gather feedback from trainees directly. The Live Demo Simulator is a tool that enables salespeople to use a simulated interface📱, with step-by-step guided instructions, to learn how to demonstrate a product effectively.

Here’s how the early-stage prototype of the Demo Simulator works:

1️⃣
Salespeople engage in a conversation

2️⃣
They discuss photo features based on the customer’s interests

3️⃣
They dive into a demo of those photo features

4️⃣
The conversation is then wrapped up smoothly

This guided process helps salespeople understand what to say and do during a product feature demo. With repeated practice in the simulated environment, they become familiar with the entire sales flow and gain confidence when interacting with real customers. The instant feedback makes it easy to track the salespeople’s learning progress.

Below are two more detailed modes in the Demo Simulator prototype:

🎯 Practice Mode

Allows users to follow word-by-word, step-by-step guidance so they can become familiar with the process.

📄 Exam Mode

Requires users to recall the sales pitch and demo process, utilizing voice recognition and a simulated interface to assess how well they’ve learned.
